I have no idea to cook a meal or bake a cake when for the very first time I cooked by myself. I was ten years old when my grandmother taught to me how to prepare my first meal. That was a casserole chicken and also mixed rice and beans. I begin cutting the vegetables and boiling into the hot water. After that, I put the pieces of chicken into the casserole with some onion, garlic and tomatoes, potatoes and vegetables. I cooked them in slow heat for an hour. I remembered she was watching me every step I made and warning me to be very careful with the stove. That it was not so bad at all, but she was there for me to guide me.
What about when for the first time I have to bake a cake at
the school for homework. My grandmother
was not there to help me. It was a real
challenge for me to understand the process of putting all together and mixed it. Not only that, the oven was not in the right
temperature. I have totally forgotten turn
on the oven before I was putting the cake into the oven. And also, I was putting the frosting on the
cake without knowing not to put it when the cake is hot. I really did a huge mess to my cake!
It was not so funny at all! But something happened about
this short story, I learned about my mistakes.
After all, I could understand the important of reading the recipes first
and then put it in practice.
There is a first time to every thing! Good memories! I hope to taste one of your dishes one day. I'm sure your grand mother was a wonderful teacher!
ReplyDeleteThat's is really true, there is a first time to everything! I will love to prepare something for you, anytime. My grandmother passed away long time ago but I still remember her as now. She taught many things in life that I will never forget her. I missed her a lot.
DeleteThat's looking good! You should bring some samples to school to taste it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jose, that's actually my favorite meal the casserole chicken with rice and beans. Let me see what I can do someday, if I can.
DeleteHey Wanda
ReplyDeleteI bet through all that trial and era, you have got it down now. I'm Jose, bring some to school.
Hey Jose, are you Tony Blair or Jose V, or another Jose?
DeleteI know is that I like to recall those memories that never come back again anyway; but I can see how I have learned from those so far now. Hey let ask you a question, if I bring the food at school where I can place the "ollas". Just kidding!
